From the once-significant St. George’s Church outside the former city wall, the streets radiated outward in the 18th century. Urban layout and street orientation reveal a composition of sightlines and key buildings. The Art Nouveau building, the Haus der Gesundheit (House of Health), is the only remaining testimony of that period. The communist regime replaced the other streets with a grid. Today, the polished radial recalls the city layout that evolved over centuries — once considered one of exceptional beauty.
